About Us
Waverley City Archers (WCA) is affiliated with Archery Victoria (AV), Archery Australia (AA) and internationally with the Federation Internationale de Tir a l'Arc (FITA). FITA is the world body for archery recognized by the International Olympic Committee. FITA sets Laws and Bylaws particularly for competitions for target archery, field archery, ski archery, run archery, flight archery and clout archery.
Access: Members with a key have access to the clubhouse and range during daylight hours. Adult members can apply for a key after two months or when they can demonstrate appropriate safety and shooting skills. Some members are keen shooters and like practicing so it would not be unusual to find club members on the range during the week. Regular access to the club is from about 9:30am to 4pm Saturdays, and to 1pm on Sundays. If you have any questions, our club coaching staff and committee members would be happy to provide you with more specific information.
Location: WCA is located in the sporting reserve northwest of the intersection of the Monash Freeway and Wellington Road, in Mulgrave, an eastern suburb of Melbourne, Victoria. See map. The reserve is several hectares, with walking tracks, soccer fields, and of course, the Waverley City Archers target and clout ranges. Access to the clubhouse in Freeway Reserve is via Kernot Avenue, Mulgrave.
Coaching: Coaching is available for beginners and experienced archers of recurve, longbow and compound bow styles. New archers (who have not been registered with Archery Australia previously) are required to attend an introductory course which covers basic shooting, etiquette and safety. A fee is charged for the course and all the equipment is provided - contact our coaches for details. Beginner courses are held on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Archers, no matter how experienced, never stop learning! Our coaches and senior archers are happy to assist in helping archers at all levels.
